Check out what awesome things our Hawks are up to!
2nd graders at HTA made Veterans Day cards for veterans across the country. Some cards were mailed to the men and women who have served, and some were hand delivered here in Gilbert. Thank you to all those who have served, are currently serving or look forward to serving our country.
This November our 3rd graders held a drive to collect items for shelter animals. The HTA community was able to donate 574 items! The items were delivered to the Friends for Life Animal Rescue.
STUCO held their annual food drive this month. Every November the HTA community comes together to collect food for Matthew's Crossing. This year we were able to collect 1,408 food items to help others in our area.
In October, students made cards to be sent overseas to Guam. Some students created cards for a Navy veteran who is still living over there. Other students made Thanksgiving cards for an active Navy officer in hopes to bring him some holiday cheer. Thank you to all our military families of the past, present and future for your service!
Staff, students and families attended Feed My Starving Children in September. They were able to pack 66 boxes which will feed 39 children for an entire year.
In the month of August, HTA families donated to the Maricopa County Heat Relief Drive. We were able to provide 22 cases of water, fans, reuseable water bottles, food, cooling towels and sunscreen. The items went to a church in Phoenix that is open to those who need heat relief as well as to locals who were affected by a recent fire.
HTA staff along with their families volunteered at Feed My Starving Children. Their table packed 33 boxes which contributed to 312 boxes packed for that session. Meals were sent to those in need in; Congo, The Philippines, Liberia, Thailand, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.
We were proud to run into a former HTA student who now works with his mom at FMSC.
Students from Higley Traditional Academy welcomed students from Higley's Transition and Access Program. They worked on social skills and created projects together.
HTA helped the city of Gilbert to replenish food pantries. Altogether, the town collected 32,478 pounds of food and $16,373 in cash donations which provides 108,641 meals to those in need.
